We care about the timeliness, comprehensiveness and integrity of the data that we publish. Because we care, we do not simply give our customers the raw DOT data.
- We perform several edits on the integrity of the data.
- When we find an error that is fixable, we make a correction before publishing the data. We notify the DOT and sometimes the carriers directly of errors that we find so that the DOT can fix their published data to agree with ours.
- We cross-validate the Form41 Financial, the T100 Segment and Market with the O&D Survey data in several different ways to find inconsistencies.
- We enhance the Domestic portion of the O&D Survey data by including estimates of fares and reconciled amounts of unreported passenger data for carriers who are exempt from the Survey reporting rules.
- Due to the seasonal skewing effects of the O&D Survey's "First Use Rule" as well as minor amounts of under or over sampling, we use the carriers' reported T100 Market data to help bring our published version of the Survey data to a more precise 10% level.
- Our user interfaces are designed to give the analysts the most useful reports with the fewest number of menus and item selections as feasible.
